The facts surrounding incidents involving computer data are seldom known at the time of the incident. Management is typically made aware of a "problem" when, for example, confidential data makes its way to competitors and the company is politely notified, or perhaps sales leads are suddenly being followed up by your competitor before your representative has called, or, data, money and proprietary drawings suddenly disappear or are altered.
